Cet été, je n’ai pas pu résister à la mode des pantalons fluides. Comme je n’ai pas eu le temps de m’en coudre un avant les vacances, j’ai profité des soldes pour en acheter 2 tout faits. À mon retour, j’ai eu un peu de temps à consacrer ce pantalon d’été idéal qui me trottait toujours en tête et j’ai commencé par quelques croquis inspirés d’un reste de coton à utiliser.

Entre temps les deux pantalons achetés ont très mal vieilli ! L’un s’est craqué le long d’une couture latérale et l’autre a bouloché. Je n’ai donc pas eu vraiment de scrupules à les découdre pour créer mon patron à partir du devant de l’un et du dos de l’autre. Je voulais en effet un devant à plis et ceinture plate avec un dos à taille élastiquée.

Tout n’a pas été aussi simple que prévu, j’ai du m’y reprendre à plusieurs fois. La première toile était tout à fait importable car beaucoup trop étroite à l’entrejambe. Comme je n’étais pas encore très sûre du résultat pour la 2ème tentative, j’ai utilisé un reste de tissu un peu trop petit pour y couper des jambes complètes. Une fois validé après essayage, je l’ai rallongé par un morceau de jersey en m’inspirant du Hudson Pants de True Biais.

Au final ? J’adore mon nouveau pantacourt  Heureusement que la météo parisienne s’est réchauffée pour que je puisse en profiter un peu avant l’automne !

Tissu coton fluide et jersey noir

This summer, I really loved all the loose fitting style pants we’ve been seeing everywhere. I bought 2 pairs during the summer sale as I was lacking time to make them myself before holidays. When I came back in Paris I was still thinking about sewing the perfect summer pants and began to sketch a few ideas.

In the meantime the pants I had bought got totally worn out, one was even torn ! I therefore carefully unstitched them and created my own pattern using the front from one pair and the back from the other. My idea was to have a pleated front with a woven waistband and an elastic waistband at the back. Everything didn’t come out as easy as expected, the first mockup was to tight at the crotch. As I was really not sure the second one would be better, I used a cotton fabric from my stash that was too small to cut entire legs. In the end I really liked the shape, so I added 2 pieces of black jersey fabric to wear them as cropped trousers in a True Bias Hudson Pants style .

In the end? I love my new pants :) Fortunately Parisian weather has warmed up so I can still wear them a few times before fall comes !
